1. Has anyone heard of biodegradable filter socks?
2. Has anyone made their own for use on their own tanks? How? Does it work?
Just trying to reduce my footprint a bit here. We have managed to route the contaminated portion of my filtered RO water out to the citrus trees in my back yard -- so that helped with the unused water. But I'm stumped with filter socks.

You mean the socks at the ends of the returns? Can you wash them & reuse ? Iv'e done this a bunch of times .I respect your efforts at conservation
Also Lot's of salt keepers don't use them at all.

I read that I can only wash them about three or four times before I need to pitch them. Do people around here wash them multiple times?

Just reuse them. They don't need to be tossed. Or don't run them at all like the Triton Method suggests.

My husband and I just washed and reused them. After about 30 or so washes we did notice that the socks would clog faster but I would say that's pretty good. We tried the plastic container to replace the socks and we didn't like it.

Mine have been through the wash 100s of times. I've actually been meaning to replace them as they are pretty old but they last a really long time. Much longer then people socks..
