That particular one source was unknown to me. Here is the vendor

Stick it in the shade! Im sure it sounds crazy.. but if u want it back that yellow and bright, put it like not direct at all, think montipora shelf, and sorta on the edge under that. Like barely getting much light at all.
Where they collect those its almost always in cracks in real like gritty murky sorta areas, not a ton of visibility, and they are on the bottom in cracks under other corals almost always. They look their best when they first come in, and the wholesalers barely light them. Just actinics, maybe 2 bulbs, to keep them bright.

The real secret to that particular one is to shade it some, and itll get bright like it was when it was new.

The purple is the sunscreen color, if that makes any sense at all.

Hope that helps if u still have the torch. I stumbled upon this post tonite.

In almost all cases we overlight them. Sure some like the asd grail will get better with more par. But the majority have the fresh, many malaysian types, those ultra glowey ones, they all do better in just the least bit of par, with mostly uv and violets. Royals some but really the best color in them just shows under that 450, it seems to be “charged” by those lower 350-400 area led spectrums. (Or actinic t5 works best)

But really, after trying so many programs and spectrums and par areas, the ones in my frag tank for 2 weeks under just 2 crappy lights while i waited to get new ones colored up like they were fresh again and looked amazing. I realized there was something to it, and a year later all my best looking torches (and they are all clones/frags of stuff in my display tanks) are like mindblowingly prettier in the frag tank with just 2 like actinic t5 bulbs like 4 feet off the 10” deep tank. They are like night and day brighter than the others. Its so backwards from how we light our tanks. Thought id share.

Just my experience with many of the new grails. And golds. Half these “bananas” were ultra gold torches a couple years ago.. i come from those days. Been coloring torches a long long time.

Many old indo golds, blast them for color. This newer stuff. Its backwards.
