Good Morning!

I took a walk this morning and came across this snake. I think it is called a "Flat Head Snake".

I also think a Toyota Land Cruiser ran over it. A red one with roof racks.

there is a unusual Euonymous in a local park. My friend is a retired Park worker with an interest in native plants. i gave him seeds from this one and he wanted to see the tree for himself. We went to see it but access roads were gated due to the season. He did not feel up to the additional grade distance, sad. Brain, body, both fade faster than one's image of their abilities.
But for today: Live fully! IMG_1979.jpeg

If you're trying to avoid admitting that it was your red toyota land cruiser with roof racks, you should probably say something along the lines of "I think it was run over by a "red toyota land cruiser with roof racks" SHAPED OBJECT!
You never know when you will have to be having this conversation with authorities, and it's not just a snake that met the business end of your land cruiser. ;)

Jeez! Did I just say that outloud?

This morning I had a cup of coffee next to this river. Actually it is the biggest river in Long Island and it enters Peconic bay where my boat is. Eventually it turns full salt but here it is fresh.

Today, like many days it is full of bunker (menhaden) which you may know are trash fish only used for bait or oil. When they ran out of whales here they caught these and squeezed them for oil. You can't eat them unless you like the taste of EXXON oil. ;Yuck

They are filter feeders and swim in large schools with their mouth open. They are about a foot long. I didn't even know they would live in fresh water.
About a third of them were sick. Their dorsal fin was rotting off and they had bloody streamers coming off of them. ;Facepalm

Kind of disgusting but I could see some hobbiests dumping in fifty gallon drums of Prizapro, tetracycline, penicillin, Robitussin, TC caps, copper and Hydrogen Peroxide then quarantining them for 76 days. :)

I actually have two "Jeeps" and they both come with a "SAS system (Snake Avoidance System) which is a very expensive option.

I decided to quit my job as a personal trainer. I’m just not big enough or strong enough.
I just handed in my too weak notice.
