Good afternoon! Been a bit hectic around here. Latest adventure - some mice decided they like the taste of the wires in my wife's new (less than 4k miles now) vehicle.. $547 later with the dealership and another 2 bills at the hardware store for weapons of rodent destruction.. Apparently the little jerks were taking nuts from the trees in the front yard and bringing them in to the cozy garage. We get our car back today and I'm a bit nervous as none of my traps of varying types have caught a single critter.. Anyone have suggestions? I've since cleaned out all the boxes in the garage to reduce hiding spots since I did find evidence in a few boots indicating they became mice/chipmunk(?) apartments..

On aquarium news - I'm not sold on the filter cup option so far. Firstly they required some "washers" to sit right in the sock holders in the sump, second they're a pita to get in/out for floss changes, and lastly the floss gets cogged within 24 hours. My tank is not the cleanest at the moment, so I'm holding off on my judgement on the floss lifespan.. It seems like it might be a decent enough option if I can make the floss swap easier, but there's no way I'd use em if I was gonna be gone for vacation/work for more than 3-4 days. Anyone else have experience with those? (4" filter cups from BRS plus a trigger systems 36 sump).

Only before the sulfur denitrators. I run a sediment filter in a housing that feeds both of them.
An old friend that grew up in a coal camp taught me that one. For fun the older kids would line up the younger ones and charge them to get the Holy Ghost from a light socket. The lady was tough as nails. Introduced me to my wife. Died from smoking Marlboroughs.

Good morning! Husband goes back to the surgeon today for a "clean out." That should be fun. :eek: He's doing better overall.

Son in the wreck about a month ago finally got a replacement car yesterday. After much fighting with the insurance companies (his and the guy who hit him), he finally got a decent settlement and was able to replace his car with the insurance money plus another $700 out of pocket. He was able to find a similar car/same year with about 50,000 less miles, so it all turned out decent for him...other than the frustration.

The bluebirds are busy visiting my feeders and nest boxes this morning. They laid eggs in one last year but nothing hatched. I’m hoping for a better outcome this year.

What kinda blenny is doing the good work? Since my tuxedo urchin kicked the bucket the hair algae has regained its foothold. My lawnmower blenny and tailspot aren't gettin it done alone.

skip the fish if you want algae control.

Good point, forgot about the Mexican turbos! After I moved my tank I was pretty much just down to astreas. I think I have like one or two small turbos now.. Will have to look for some.

snails are stealth eaters so easy to overlook the blenny is a lawnmower and is getting a lot of help from the snails and their snail babies. turbos and astreas.

You have to make the algae grow slower than they eat it. Phosphates down and light down some or shorter time.
Once you do get rid of it all those things that lived on it need fed.
I went to far and have none now. I had to put the tuxedos in the fuge.

thanks guys. typing with one hand so no capitals. i got home a few hours ago and still have the nerve block so no pain yet. i will start screaming tonight. i don't know how it went because i didn't talk to the dr. yet but the guy who swept the floor gave me a thumbs up. :rolleyes:

i was in there for 6 hours but the surgery was probably much shorter, maybe an hour and 15 minutes.
(it takes 15 minutes to get to home depot from the hospital and i don't know if the dr. had to go there for something)

the nurses are really nice there and i had 5 or 6 of them doing different things. the older one was making a poultice out of prizapro and hydrogen peroxide. one was really interested in me and googled my name there. she may buy my book. :D

when they brought me into the operating room the two anesthesiologists were there. both young men but one of them didn't exude confidence. did you ever see "alien vs predator" ?

the alien looks like a praying mantis and sweats blood while the predator has dread locks, green scales and shoots laser beams from his rotator cuff. he looked somewhat like the two of them.

i noticed a young girl there dressed like a surgeon. i figured it was "take your granddaughter to work day". i also noticed girl scout cookies on the jungle gym. :oops:

they assured me she was a surgeon and showed me a photo of her desk with one of those little statues made out of nuts and bolts shaped like a surgeon. i knew it was real because it had a little stethoscope and a plack that read "worlds best surgeon".

i asked the anesthesiologist if he could keep me knocked out for 6 weeks until the brace comes off but he just said "good night"

now i have this hard brace on and it keeps my arm facing straight out from my body so when i walk down the street, people either shake hands with me, give me spare change or say, "who you pointing at! ". :oops:

Went to the other Petco to get some feeder fish and dog food

Dragon wrasse. I don't know where I would put it. All the fish are so tiny. Mean Mammer Jammer when grown up. Would probably beat up my eels.

A dragon wrasse would be nice in the 180 if I get one big enough so the eel wont eat it.
I need a bigger ATO reservoir.

So many battles with pests. I am glad I decided to be a neutral territory. No battles here.
