I used to do alot of work in the projects in the city of Chicago. The El-rukin and vice lord gangs are no joke. They have access to tec weapons and ak-47's. I have seen them use them first hand. The biggest thing in the projects is the buildings are set in cul-de-sacs. The gangs set up snipers in the buildings and put 20 kids in the cul-de-sac to sell crack. The kids are under 14 and only one has the drugs. The car buying the drugs drives in and make the drop with the kids and leaves, if they rob the kids the sniper shoots the car. This is called security. The Police are not stupid enough to go into the cul-de-sac so they wait down the block, tape the drop, and then bust the buyer. There are too many kids on the sale to catch the right one with the drugs. Organized crime!
The Chicago Housing Authority Police are always in teams of 3, have height and weight requirements, and carry 3 guns in full body armor. I asked them one day as they escorted my crew thru Cabrini Green Housing why do you where 3 guns? They said it is policy because they do not "RELOAD"!!! You could not pay enough money to work for that policy! You got to be crazy! They were 100% serious.
Between Chicago and North St.Louis I can say I heard or seen a shooting almost every night on the job when working in those areas. There are many people across the country that never are exposed to the real street gangs. This sub culture exists and is very dangerous.
