Tank looks great Freddie! Are you dosing the PO4 by hand? I need to get on that myself.
Thanks Tim

Yes, I am hand dosing PO4 at this point. Using those clear Red Sea measuring caps.

After 48 hours just tested NO3 and PO4
NO3 has gone up from 17ppm to 18ppm in 48 hours, not all that bad.
PO4 dropped to .13ppm in the same 48 period as well/ bumped it up to about .7ppm to .8ppm

At this time the algae reactor is dropping phosphates more than nitrates.

We have one dosing head available on the ReefDose, so at some point might use that remaining open pump head to keep the PO4 levels inline.

Hope you have a great Christmas and New Years!!!

Yeah, Phosphates at ppm, use the ULR ppm checker.
Thanks for the catch.

Made some edits in the above post… ;Hilarious

Tank is looking fantastic Freddie ! ! !

Thanks, Keith

Appreciative of your guidance going back to AF Balling. After mag dropped to 1350ppm fired up Comp 3. Used the same daily dosage amount of C-1 and C-2. C-3 did not shoot up the magnesium. It still works like it used to.

Hope you have a nice holiday season.

Lol,
should have left the phosphate levels alone.
Shoot for .04 - 05ppm… ;Eggonface

Just fired back up the GFO reactor… ;Hilarious

Simon,
Appreciate the fact that you always tag along… :)

Trough a lot of partial water changes and dosing up phosphates.
Nitrates are down from 72ppm to 17ppm. The algae reactor has worked a tad bit on nitrates. It seems to hold each level after we’ve brought those down. Have harvested a full batch of cheato once and probably a tad more than I would have liked to removed. The cheato is still nice and green, but a long ways away to say the reactor was the right long haul option. I also put a dimmer on it’s leds.

Besides the AF Comp Pro that we’re dosing, is Reef Energy and Iron with Magansees.

The calcium reactor setup is on sale in the dry goods forum. If it does not sell, just fine to keep it boxed and stored in the garage.

Have had a lot of offers far away, but it’s a local sell and eating about $800.00 of todays pricing.

Still impressed with the Red Sea app.

Pictures:
When you see green on the rock-work, it is a green type of coralline.
Some new acro frags, the tiny one on top is being stubborn about kicking in.
The chalice is an Pink *******
Dead Stag: The Green Slimer that I killed… ;Sorry

Still have some ways to go but feel like the reef is heading in the right direction.

Just hanging in the wings watching. Hope your well

Thanks, Ray
Our entire family is doing well.

Thanks for bringing Don back into the R2R loop... :)

Might as well cut an update:

Sold the Cal Reactor on R2R, it was a very smooth transaction.

After 2.5 years the Alkatronc bit the dust, it will still test and I can make it test, but it will not display it's results in any form. I can't get a ballpark figure to fix, so it's just turned off. Since the cal reactor is sold really don't fell the need to have it repaired.

I felt like we had Monti eating nudis, so brought in a beautiful 5" male melanurus wrasse. He is too cool. Made him a small sand bed with a Tupperware bowl. Every evening he dive bombs into his sand.

It was not nudis, got a bucket of the Turkish Pro Reef mix. That bucket caused a lot of damage to some sps.

Emailed BRS and on a waiting list.

At this point the damage has been done, but my oldest acros have pulled through.

Wound up buying the Deltec 1000ix skimmer, at this point it is a better skimmer then the ole BK 160. The build quality is not in the league as an BK, but these new Deltec skimmers have really improved in skimmer advancements. You can dail in these guys to produce any kind of skim mate that you prefer, and it will stay dialed in.

The one draw back is that it's venturi clogs up with salt build up pretty fast (3 weeks) and it's a chore...;Blackeye to get the air line to reattach to the hard pipe on the venturi...;Wacky

As @Jason mack has stated, getting real close to sending one of the ATI icp test.

Oh man sounds like quite the roller coaster you have been on. Guess the old saying that which does not kill us ticks us off and makes us more determined.
I would have thought alkatronic to be more robust longevity wise. Sorry about the coral losses glad your oldest acros pulled thru tho.
Have to agree on the Melanurus awesome fish. Mine maintains his place in pecking order or tries to. Seems only guy who runs from him is orchid dottyback and he is even getting bolder.
Stay cool good sir better days just ahead

Until someone like Red Sea builds an alk monitor / controller that comes with boards and software that are as dependable as an Apex classic, saying put.

This is the craziest reefing experience that I have ever dealt with.
Going to stay patient and at some point this reef will lock back in.

The Regal was picking on the Mel wrasse, but once she learned that he was not trying to be dominate, she laid off. At times he looks like a shark while swimming in and out of tunnels.

Kudos to all the wrasse freak Lovers!!!

I was talking with lfs about Turkish salt. He lost acro’s during the time and was always cleaning the mixing drums. He won’t put blame on the salt but we all know the time frame was right. It’s a shame.

I’m loving the Deltec but the skimmer. Haven’t been using it long but did my first cup cleaning. Was only draining and everyday turning the wiper. I will watch and check the venture. Thanks for the tip.

Melanurus tend to not mind fish that are pushy. They tend to just keep doing what they feel like. Great addition with the color and movement. Like you said reminds me of a shark at times

Great having you around!

Glad your tank is on the mend from the TMP disaster Freddie! My acros are coloring back up with every water change :)
