Does anyone have any tips or tricks for removing or killing green hairy mushrooms? They have spread through out my tank and are taking over some of my sps? I have tried injecting vinegar and f aiptasia it just seems to cause them to retract for a day or two and then come back and sometimes split into more. Does anything eat them? Or any corals that are know to sting them back? Thanks!

Make them retract and use a bone cutter to cut the rock at their foot to frag them off ?
You could prob just sell the frags too
If you cut them off it’ll apparently regrow from the small tissue. I’ve never had a hairy mushroom grow from a small piece when breaking it off he rock tho

Green hairy mushrooms are a scourge. Only thing I found effective is to remove the rocks and scrub them off.

Unfortunately that's really not an option for me.

I'm having some luck with Joe's juice. I wait till light off when they close up into a ball and then inject the Joe's juice in through the tiny hole. I've done it to 4 so far and they are dissolved by morning.

I’m about to remove some from my tank. I currently plan to feed them and then use a bone cutter to cut rock underneath them. Anyone have other problems in the tank after removing these—regardless of the method? Meaning do they release toxins or anything like that? I’m trying to decide if I’m going to remove a covered base rock from my tank to do this…

I made the mistake of adding one of these to a newby 180G tank and about 6 months in, about a year later they were everywhere. I cut and removed all of them (many still living and gave them away) - about 6 months later I noticed another 2 that somehow survived the cull. For these, i just used F Aiptasia - heavy dose. Seems to have worked. Good luck. These should be banned from the trade IMHO - def up there with GSP , Blue Clove Polyps and other invasive corals that end up being a major headache for most who didn't have a clue when they purchased them from an LFS or online store.
