Grinch losing color....help!

I have my Monti Grinch frag placed at the lower 3rd of my aquarium, running Radions 5" above water surface, total aquarium depth is 24". So frag is around 18-19" from lights straight down. The top edge of the frag that is closest to light is losing color. Is that a sign of too much light or too little light?

I'd have to agree that it's too much light based on the info provided. How long has the grinch been in the tank? How long have you had the radions? Anything else change recently? I would also double check the parameters as well.

Parameters are spot on except a bit high nitrates. Grinch been in there 2 months. Radions 8 months.

Do you know the par reading where it is placed?
I have read that the grinch monti does not mind high lighting...... Mine doesn't....

You might want to raise the radions. Sounds like you may have a bleaching issue. How long have you had them and did you acclimate your corals to these lights?

Problem is way tank set up I can't move the lights. I did place the frag on tank bottom for a week before I moved it to its present spot.

Can you create a shadow over it and see how it reacts or perhaps a filter?

I sometimes have a similar issue with a coral losing color, especially if the person I bought it from has lessor lights then I.

If I buy coral from someone running intense MH then my corals do great. If I buy from someone that had it under low powered T5 systems with old bulbs then this happens to me as well. It can take a good month before I notice the loss in color or as quick as 2 weeks. Finally after four months some of the coral that lost their coloring are 'slowly' gaining it back. And I have pretty good flow on these coral.
