Hey gang.

Got this GSP from a friend about a week ago. It opened up nice the first couple days (see image) and then went sad. I’ve tried moving to a couple different spots to give it different light and flow but no real changes.

Today it’s barely opening at all and I noticed a growth looking thing on the side of it (see image). I know these things are tough as nails and it’s not dead, but wondering if this is normal or not and if there is anything else I can do to help it? All other fish and corals are looking healthy and well including Xenia, Zoas, Morph and Hammer.

Calcium is a bit low about 350 and mag is about 1170 but I’ve just started dosing today to try get them up a bit.
Alk is 9.6dKH
Temp 26.1C
Salinity 34ppt
Phosphate 0.03ppm
Nitrates are low though - around 0.25ppm

Let us know your thoughts!

Unsure of exact parameters of mates tank but he has a full tank of healthy coral and fish that is well maintained so I would assume everything is stable.

I don’t have any other polyp type corals or SPS at the moment.

And no crabs in my tank so that wouldn’t be the cause either…
