Good day all.

( My 1st build thread: (75) https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/1st-ever-swa.158238/ )

Today starts a new chapter in my saltwater endeavor.
Inspired by my 3 year old grandson, Grayson... I'm going bigger.
Currently running a 75 gallon reef. Many ups and downs, most recent, anemone crash, two fish survived.

This will be a complete new build. Only thing being reused are my SB WiFi reef lights.
I have the 210 gallon dual overflow tank.
One 40 gallon breeder for the drain/skimmer/heater/return with DIY baffles.
Still need to get one more 40 gallon breeder for a refugium.
Also have an AquaExcel skimmer.

Sooo...
Sunday, February 23, 2020...
Carpet removed to prepare for new flooring under tank.
Picked up all the lumber for the DIY stand.

More pictures and info coming soon!!

P.S.
No water until after the wife and I return from our 2 week cruise in April.
But getting everything ready!!

Let the excitement begin!

Flooring done. That's where the stand is going. 86"x26" stand for the 72"x24" tank. Stand will be open in the back to access sump. Can still open door and we're 12" off the wall to access the outlet. Next weekend... Building the stand!!

Cruise got canceled, Florida vacation was canceled....
Covid has my helpers for the plywood part staying at home....
Soon... very soon.
Hope everyone is staying safe out there and enjoying their little part of the ocean during these trying times.

Evening,

*UPDATE*
One light installed, other 2 still over the 75 gallon reef. (No, the orange cord is temporary. Unplugged after painting)
Rolled stand onto it's front.
Painted bottom and back, flat black.
Painted inside, bright white.
Once dry it'll get rolled back up and the front, top, and sides will be painted.
The white box is the platform for one of the (2) 40 gallon breeders for the filtration.

Welp, something happened this weekend.
The 210 was moved and placed on it's stand.
Next will be cleaning up and rearranging the basement so I can build a wall to support this beast.
Once the wall is built I'll put on my plumber's hat and get her plumbed.
and then sand, rock, and water.....

*UPDATE*
We will finish cleaning out and reorganizing the basement this weekend. My christmas gift to myself.
Then my New Years gift will be building the support walls in the basement Jan 2/3 weekend.
Then fill tank. Check for stability and make sure it's still level.
Then Jan 9/10 weekend, plumbing work, add more water to tank so it overflows to sump, turn on pump and let her run to check for leaks. probably let it run for a few days then drain.
Then Jan 16/17... ROCK SAND AND SALTWATER!!! YAY

Oh and someone wanted me to put water in it so he could splash a little.

This past Friday, March 5, I finished the plumbing.
Added sand then wife and I stacked the rock.
Saturday, March 6, started adding water. I had (2) 44 gallon Brutes and (2) 30 gallon brutes of saltwater that I prepared the prior week. They weren't full up to the top... I think I had about 120 gallons prepared and I over salted the water.
once the 120ish gallons of saltwater was pumped up from the basement I ran the RODI line to the tank.
By Sunday, March 7, noonish the tank and sump tanks were full. YAY!!
Time to turn on the return pump............
Everything seemed to be running quite smoothly. then... Drip. Drip. Drip....
I used vinyl tubing and insert fittings. A couple of them were dripping.
No problem I have tubes of silicone. So, I lathered up all the fittings.
Tonight, March 9 the return pump will get started back up.
AND LET THE CYCLE BEGIN!!!
