Hi,

My tank has been running for 4 months and I am having issues with green hair algae(?). Also, GSP has been closed for 4 days and zoa is having hard time opening up. Any recommendation would be appreciated.

No changes to the tank.

3 astraea snails
3 nassarius snails
5 hermit crabs
2 crown fish
1 chromis
1 blenny
1 cleaner shrimp

Salinity: 0.025
pH: 8
Ammonia: 0
kH: 9.2
Mg: 1240
Ca: 400
Nitrate: 4.4
Phosphate: 0.00 (hanna) I had 0.4 a week ago but it suddenly shows 0.

Filter system: fluval fx, no protein skimmer

With zero phosphate and low nitrate, you may encourage dinoflagellates to grow. Get more janitors with you being the biggest janitor.

Could you better discribe your setup?

Also, a full tank shot with white light would help.

Hi,

Should I dose phosphate? It was in normal range last week and it suddenly dropped.

I have Fluval fx filter and nothing else. I do 10% water change weekly and I feed once a day.

I use Redsea Reefled 90 and it was kept at 70% blue and 10% white 8-9 hours a day.

I have one wave maker.

Hope this helps.

I would add some more flow into the tank, and get some turbo snails... turbo's are the best green algae eaters.

i would suggest to add another wavemaker, and point one of them at the water surface and get it agitated to help oxygenate the water, there should be ripples going across the surface.

Maybe something using up your PO4, but that’s a big sudden drop so I not buying that .4ppm in a new tank.

Bump to .1ppm or so and keep both levels in check so they do not rise or fall, week over week.

Any consistent increase or decrease must be compensated so as to maintain nutrient availability.

I assume you salinity posting is incorrect.

Picture with white light. I can’t see much algae with the blue light.

I suggest you feed more and double check your phosphate reading. Get more janitors.
