Your main colony looks small enough to position it next to the surface you want it to grow on. That's what I've done. I was told not to try to glue it.

Interesting, I'll give that a shot!

I was thinking that they didn't like the high light of that area since the colony was at the bottom of your tank.

I've actually got them in a spot that's kinda dim. They get some residual light but my fixture isn't directly overhead. It looks dim to me anyways, not sure about the par difference
