Gsp is stinging my monti

I picked up this really nice piece today. Only problem is that the gsp on the rock is starting to sting the monti. Is there a way to cut back the gsp? The monti is really strongly attached to the rock at this point.

I had just gotten it when this picture was taken, so the gsp is closed up.

Yeah there is. I have to take the rock out that has the gsp on it. Then just scrap off the gsp with a knife or something.
