I am so happy to hear good things
I have just purchased 4 x xf280's

Was very disappointed with the controllability of the first series

I assume the 280 is of similar standing to the 230 & 250 ?

Anyone running a 280 ?

I got a 250 for a 5' tank, but wanted to run it in a smaller 36" reef that I have now. The pump is awesome but the promblem IMO is that this model can only be reduced to 10% power, which is still too much for the smaller tank. I had thought with the new controller one would have availability to dial down more but I guess not.

For any tanks smaller than 48" I would get the smaller Fx230

Are you guys using the snail guards? Seems to cut the flow a lot so I'm running 80% for my 120g.

For OGC, I noticed the chart they posted has highest power around noon to 8 pm. My lights turn on around 10 am. Since you can't adjust OGC schedule, I set the Gyre clock 2 hours ahead.

I've had my xf230 for about two months now on my 45g shallow (36x24x12"), and I'm very pleased so far. No noise, no quality concerns. My SPS are happier now than they've ever been. I still have twin MP10s, but they've both been dialed down to 10%, and are basically just keeping water moving in the lower corners of my tank where the Gyre wouldn't reach otherwise.
