So my gyre died after just 3 days. Came home today with the red light flashing and no movement. Followed the troubleshooting video, took it apart to look for obstructions, there were none. The rotor spins, not freely because of the magnet, but it spins. Plugged it back in, same thing, flashing red light. I do notice a small rust like discoloration on the rotor body at the seam left of the maxspect logo, so I'm guessing water intrusion.

Chris, I bought this from Marin Depot. What do I do with it?

That happens to my gyre too, but it only happens when it's on reverse. When I notice the red light I just unplug it and plug it back in. Works normal, just not on reverse

I'll be eagerly waiting for an answer to this one. I hope it works out at the end.

I just got my gyre in today set it up and love it. But I have the same issue as you. Going forward it works great when it switches to go in reverse the red light comes on and it doesn't do anything

Yeap I did the same thing as well. Figured I'd look into it tomorrow and try and trouble shoot it then. If you figure out why that's happening please let me and everyone else know

This is just part of the break-in process. Please go to www.coralvue.com/support and submit a ticket and a technician will give you suggestions.

So you expected a new product to be released with a 0% failure rate? The number of units shipped so far is already pretty staggering, and so far I've seen ~8 that have had significant issues. I'd imagine there are more that are not members of forums (the majority of aquarists are not), but even still, that's a very, very low rate of failure.

The important thing to note is that if something goes wrong the customer service from these companies that are selling and providing these pumps will make it right! :)

Done. I am now waiting to hear from a "support specialist".

By the way, I am neither surprised or upset that my unit died. I understand that it would be impossible for every unit of a mass produced product to be perfect. I got unlucky. No big deal. That said,, I DO expect the warranty claim to be dealt with properly. :)
