Hi Randy, Do you have any articles posted pertaining to H2O2. Im curious what happens to hydrogen peroxide after coming in contact with salt water. Mostly in reference to spot treating with small doses. Thank you.

Lots of experiences with reefers using H2O2 in the big dino thread

No, I’ve not written an article on it.

One of the interesting chemical aspects is that despite its reputation as an oxidizer, it actually reduces the ORP of seawater and reduces copper +2 to copper +1.

While I have no doubt that many people have used it with success, the often stated idea that it merely degrades into O2 and water is not true and it does have effects on trace elements.

Thanks, Ive read through a lot of post relating to the different experiences that people have had. Im interested in how Hydrogen peroxide degrades in salt water. With H2o being very stable and H2O2 being very unstable, Im wondering if peroxide eventually turns to H2o, or some other form. And if so, what would be the time rate for degradation. Or if it gets heavily diluted with not much chemical change at all. Ive been able to find some informative articles using fresh water but nothing pertaining to salt water. Thx

It mostly degrades into water and O2, but not all of it. Some reacts with trace elements and organics, changing their forms.
