Bought a torch coral online, it arrived, opens nicely, color matches listing picture, it seems healthy. Realized from the fresh glue and size of the coral this is a hack shop fresh cut. Whatever I’ll let it grow out.

Upon close inspection of the base I see that one of the heads has exposed skeleton and the other head has flesh covering the skeleton - as it should

What should be done to help that left head heal up? Even if it’s a fresh cut, new heads should grow with flesh covering the top of the skeleton right?

Yes you are correct they should have a flesh ring below the "crown". Proper parameters especially not to much flow and feeding should recover. Looks maybe from fragging not recession.

Ya, should have a nice flesh band. Moderate flow and light and consistent parameters. Feed it the mysis. I was given a rescue torch in June that I couldn’t see a flesh band. It has doubled in size and I hd to frag back my birdsnest because it was stinging it.
