RO water is just water without any dissolved solids or additives. Tap water (while it varies by region) is full of phosphates and other chemicals (hence your algae problem). More likely than not, you can go to your LFS and pick up a few buckets of RO water that they made. You could also invest a bit and get your own RO system so you can make RO water at your own houseI don't know anything about RO water.
I do not use ro water..I have some turbo snails and they aren't touching it.

You need to cut back the whites, i run mine at about 40%.Like the brightest setting.
How do you set up a RO?
It doesn't have to be hooked up all the time, but you have to be careful not to let the DI membrane get dried out.Does it need to be hooked up all the time?

Most LFS sell RO water, it's usually about $.30 a gallon. If you can't make your own, that's the next best thing. Get a TDS meter and test it though.What is the difference
