hair alge

whats the best way to get rid of hair alge? i am starting to get some showing up?
i have had my tank up and running for at lest a year. what should i do?

Many things can contribute to growth of hair algae. Your best bet is to also find out why it is starting to grow. Have you checked your phosphate levels? How much are you feeding? What filtration are you running? What size tank? What is your fish stocking list?

Ok now to your original question. The thing that has worked best for me was hermit crabs and emerald crabs. A combination of the two works best for me. The only thing though if you're over feeding they may not want the algae!
