My led system. Seriously if you think lights are holding you back then take a look at fundamentals like chemistry because all decent fixtures be it led t5 or mh are easy mode. I can grow great sps under any lighting and so can anyone else.

To all the LED guys. How long did it take to grow your little colonies? I've seen LED's grow and color.

Haven't seen a good progress pic on LED growth, of a full tank. Always individual peaces that maybe are fast growers.

Personally I like all 3 combo.

Blanket of light from T5, powerful spectrum from the halide, and glow from LED's. That's what I'm after.

Also it seams like LED's grow twigs. Halides give you that thick branch. Just all the LED tanks I've seen in person, the sps look all thin with mini polyps. Just my observations.

Here is 9 months in my old 65. Most of these were fast growers though.

Gotdamb, I count like 15 or 16 fish in there...
How are the aggression issues?
Looks amazing and well curated for all the critters you have in that system.

Everyone in here has posted some amazing shots to show comparison between light fixtures, really digging it!!

lol I think theres 22 or 23 fish in this tank. No aggression issues but I can't say none have developed over the years. This system has been running since last January, but I had the same tank running for 3 years prior with as many fish (had a crash). As wrasses and anthias mature I get random acts of aggression from fish that have been together for a long time with no issue. I train all the fish to eat from my hand so catching and removing the aggressor is usually pretty easy.

Here is my tank a few years ago before I let life get in the middle of maintaining it. I'm trying to get it like this again but I feel like I'm chasing my tail :D (same lighting)

Just to cover all lighting lol here is my current system for 4 months running Radion g4 pros. I really liked these LED's. The SPS responded well. Only thing I don't like is the price, and the Spectrum, no matter how I tweaked it, didn't produce that natural cast of light. Maybe the diffusers helped with that? No sure I got rid of them before that accessory became available. On a future upgrade I will likely used many of these lights again. Hopefully they can work on that price a little.

And here is the tank a few years ago Prior to crash with a 10 bulb t5. The growth on the SPS was awesome with this lighting, however, the complete intense coverage that this fixture provided along with a dropping nutrient level being (too busy to feed often), resulted in disaster when I had an alk spike. Corals low in zoox do not seem to tolerate swings well. You can see the lighter colors on the SPS in this pic.
Overall I would say that the ATI t5 fixture was the best for growth of any lighting, I just had trouble balancing nutrient level to get deeper colors.

If you look in my signature I won the acro growout contest here on reef2reef with LEDs and It was open to all lighting types. So plenty fast. Although that being said i have found lighting is a minor when comes to growth with feeding being the real key.

Ime thin branches are from flow not light.

Edit. Added couple contest pics for anyone who can't see link.

What LED are you running and what are you feeding SPS? Nice growth BTW.

I used just cheep reefbreeders value black boxes at 1st then AI hydras 26s.

For feeding I use various size appropriate foods. Baby brine shimp is the most studied and cheapest option to drastically enhance growth. BRS reef chilli was also featured in a study and statically enhanced growth. I also feed small size golden pearls.

Nice thanks for the info. Pretty much exactly what I currently feed and lights I use, Hydra 26's and 4 T5's. :)
