Hi I need some advice. I have a orange branching hammer coral that I’ve had for a few weeks. It was puffy open looked happy and then 3 days ago I started to close up and I have no idea why. I have other hammer corals that are doing just fine that are open and happy even splitting. Last night while looking at my tank I noticed my frogspawn is also splitting. I test my water even went to TWO LFS near me they tested my water and everything is fine. But I did noticed that the orange hammer is also growing I’ve noticed 4 baby heads are growing. I’ve read that hammer can close up to conserve energy when sprouting news heads but idk I was wondering if anyone had any advice. Also the green hammer has been in the tank the longest it’s the first coral I bought. It closed up for awhile randomly once but opened back up and has been doing great noticed it’s growing a baby head too. Just don’t know what’s going on. Here’s some pics.

If all your parameters are in line, I’d say this could be the possible reason behind them being closed up. They do tend to close up when splitting. Sometimes if your NO3 and Po4 are not in the appropriate this will cause retraction. I had this issue when my nutrients bottomed out. Once corrected, all my Euphyllia had normal polyp extension. It did take a few weeks after I got my levels in appropriate range though.

Yea I’ve even tested them myself all are in acceptable range. Just looked at my tank all my Euphyllias are even more extended except for the orange hammer.
