Hammer coral white growth

Had this white stuff growing on one side of my hammer for about 3 weeks anyone know what it could be?

They are spirobid, can confirm as my hammer had some on its base as well. Harmless, had them for the last two years :|

Thanks just looks unappealing to look at. Is there anyway to remove them? Or would it be better to just keep them on it.
