Hello folks. I picked up a hammer coral from my LFS this evening. In the attached pictures the coral appears to be attached to some sort of stem ... or is this part of the coral?

I was planning on cutting this "stem" where I have the line drawn so I can place it more easily on my live rock. Anyone see any issues if I cut this stem? Thanks.

You can cut it but I wouldn’t cut it quite that close to the flesh, I would also give it some time in your tank to settle before you cut because it’s already stressed enough.

BTW.. welcome to R2R! Be sure to post in the meet and greet thread..
