I have all the Hanna Testers but They been just sitting around collecting salt. Im fixing to give the ones away I have. Because Im cool like that.

I have the po4 and no3 . I use salifert for the rest .

Hanna for PO4 ULR, NO3 HR, Alk, pH, Mag, NH3.

For Calc salifert all day. I do have the Hanna calc but as stated by others garbo. The rest in above mentioned work super well for me. Yes even mag and alk.

Salinity I run Hanna as a match maker haha. But if I need accuracy it’s Tropic Marin Hydrometer.

I like them a lot. I also don’t really stress over particular numbers though. I got the marine master tester and it’s really nice. I won’t disagree with Randy because he knows way more chemistry than me, but I’ve found I get pretty consistent results even with Calcium and magnesium by using distilled water and calibrated pipettes

Same here. I have pipettes from Amazon (easy to keep calibrated). I don’t use the Hanna supplied pipettes at all. Also use distilled water for the Ca test. I always get consistent results.

I don’t disagree that it’s possible to make the calcium and possibly the magnesium give good results. It’s just a bad design using far too little tank water that makes it prone to issues, including calcium in the blank, requiring extra pure water.

But the simple result is that it gives issues a lot of the time to people following directions as they understand them.

as a newbie reefer back in the day, Hanna checkers were a game changer for me.

I went from decoding color hues, to seeing actual numbers. It boosted my confidence and gave me assurance as to what my parameters where, and not what I wanted them to be.

I primarily use for nitrate, phosphate, and ALK.

Using salifert for mag and Cal

I'm not great with colors myself so I'm always asking my wife what she thinks. Keeps her invested I suppose lol.

Im not giving advice on calcium- but i have the same result using just the sample water that I do using deionized water. Now I just use my sample only.

I've enjoyed the simplicity in the testing with them and use them for most of the major testing but also have some red sea test kits to compare numbers so im not tied to just hanna checker even though in my experience most of the time the inconsistent numbers are usually my fault in not doing the steps perfect but hey were all human
