Randy what is your preferred alkalinity test? There are some I bought (nitrate and phosphate), some I would use only if free (alk) and some I would not use even if free (calcium, magnesium).
Randy what is your preferred alkalinity test?
Can you pm me then plz. Its ur lucky day.I would love to have alk, nitrate and phosphate. The budget just isn't there for them at the moment. I'm at the point of being ready to sell my apex in order to buy some things I want. I need to invest in some powerheads as well.

Pmd you. This is amazing. Thank you so much!!!
i need a video pleaseI use a standard alk titration using a commercial acid and a pH meter. I think it is cheaper and more accurate than most kits, assuming you already have a pH meter.

A DIY Alkalinity Test: By Randy Holmes-Farley - REEFEDITION
Alkalinity is one of the most important measurements that a reef aquarist can make. It can become rapidly depleted in many aquaria, requiring frequent measurement in order to maintain stable levels.www.reefedition.com
I'm not great with colors myself so I'm always asking my wife what she thinks. Keeps her invested I suppose lol.as a newbie reefer back in the day, Hanna checkers were a game changer for me.
I went from decoding color hues, to seeing actual numbers. It boosted my confidence and gave me assurance as to what my parameters where, and not what I wanted them to be.
I primarily use for nitrate, phosphate, and ALK.
Using salifert for mag and Cal
Right?! Same here. The wife definitely helped me with the different shades of colors.I'm not great with colors myself so I'm always asking my wife what she thinks. Keeps her invested I suppose lol.
SameI like them a lot. I also don’t really stress over particular numbers though. I got the marine master tester and it’s really nice. I won’t disagree with Randy because he knows way more chemistry than me, but I’ve found I get pretty consistent results even with Calcium and magnesium by using distilled water and calibrated pipettes
