Welcome to you and Lady Macbetta!Hi everyone! My name is Thane and I am not new to the hobby but I am new to saltwater.
My dad is a marine biologist so we almost always had a tank or two at home when I was growing up, and some of these slowly became part of my responsibility. I've kept mostly guppies, mollies, neon tetras, platys, various small catfish, and bettas. I kept two tanks in college, but ended up having to send them back to my parents when I moved out.
Now I have my own space with a roommate who, to quote her, does not care what I do with my room as long as the carpet stays dry. I've left my two gallon at home because my little brother wants to keep cherry shrimp, but I took my 3.5 with me and got it set up just yesterday. It was an absolute mess as my parents have not been very interested in its upkeep and so I had to get it thrown together in a few hours instead of the week or two that I'd like, but so far Lady Macbetta seems to be doing alright. I'm dying to get the tank planted again, maybe add some snails or a few shrimp.
I'm getting a new 5 gallon delivered tonight and I'm very excited. I'm planning to deliberate on it a bit more and be really sure I can get all the water parameters correct and test hatch some brine shrimp first, but I really want to keep dwarf seahorses in it. I know they're notoriously difficult, but I'm willing to give it my all. Advice would be deeply appreciated!
(Lady Macbetta last night getting acclimated vs this morning. I know the tank is filthy but I'm scared to clean it any more than I already have...it was an absolute mess lol. I pulled at least 50 snails out of there and the water was practically black...don't leave your fish with your relatives, y'all...)
