This Ecotech Nero pump is less than 3 years old. It hasn't been spinning at full speed so I would reset it but it would always go back to spinning slow. I reached in to grap it and got a slight shock. The back of the pump came off staying stuck to the magnet. Has anyone had this happen? I have Jebao pumps that have lasted way longer. Should I even bother call Ecotech? It's not in the warranty time frame. But it not right the top of the line pumps rust from the inside like this ( pictures)

I just had a different issue with my Nero 3 (2 weeks ago).
pump was about 2.5 years old and just stopped working. would not spin despite cleaning, etc.

I emailed the AI support team. I found them to be very responsive on the online chat function. I was not hoping for much, to be honest.
after troubleshooting a few things, they determined that it would need to be replaced and offered to send a new unit at a discounted price. I received it a few days later.

I found their customer support to be responsive and helpful in my case.

therefore, I would suggest you give it a try.

Wow, not good. Do you mean Aquaillumination? They make the Nero. However, I doubt they will offer anything for a 3 yo unit, but you can try. This is a bad (and dangerous) failure though.
Yes
This is a common failure with them and why I won’t use them
Yes but they were purchased by Ecotech who now also owns Bulkreefsupply.com all the companies went to **** after they were purchased by a holding firm who owns a ton of companies.

Bertram owns them all. Ecotech does not own BRS. Aperture is the mother company of BRS, Neptune, Ecotech, AI, and Leap.

I have had great service from all of them over the years even after the purchase.

None of that has to do with the Nero though as it released well before the mergers and has had this problem since release

I did reach out the customer service guy was nice but he was just like send the pump to this address and we will tell you how much to fix it. I kind of wanted to know if they would step up and cover this because it's not from use or neglect. I don't use vinegar to clean and even if I did this shouldn't happen. My tank had a current running through it and the pump was putting rust into my tank. Im going to call them again and have the person look at the pictures. No point in paying for shipping there and back if they want me to pay. They should cover this.
