I woke up one night after putting some Florida live rock in the tank. Turned on the light - only to find a 3 foot long bright blue worm swimming accross the tank. (it was not an eel)
Sounds like the iridescence of the infamous bobbitworms.

Man, if I have a fan worm hitchhike into my tank I’d be so happy. You really hit the luck of the draw with hitchhikers, I haven’t even found a micro brittle star let alone a large one.
I’ve got hundreds, if not thousands, of a few different species. Though the valentini puffer I added a month ago has definitely decreased the population.

Predatory invert tank anyone?
Man that brittle star sounds like it was such an interesting creature to watch. Did you find out the species?
Never did. I asked people if they had every heard of starfish tentacles glowing, but no one had. This was 20yrs ago. I tried to keep it a while in another tank, but I did not feed it enough. I was very new to hobby. I should have given it silversides and kept it alive.
It was shocking the first time I saw it. I mean here I am in the dark when little lights go on in the tank flickering and waving. So cool.

Various crabs, limpets, stomatella snails, turbo snails, clove polyps, actinodiscus and rhodactis shrooms, and on the top of the list... a G. Smithii mantis shrimp. ^_^

I’ve gotten several fan and tube worms, crabs, a bobbit worm , and a gorilla crab . A couple of urchins and a pistol shrimp too.

But I’ve also had 2 very neat hitchikers that came with my live rocks. A small unidentified Coral and a fleshy limpit.

Okay, I got home and looked at my nano tank. I have now seen a couple hitchhikers that I’ve not seen in the past or had forgotten about. First up is this intriguing bivalve which is living!

Next up, these strange polyps (if I remember correctly it’s something like with Colonial in it).

And finally, all of this! Especially the strange stringy looking microfauna seen in the centre.

My lfs is really good at not giving extra cool stuff unless you consider bubble algae or aptasia cool!
It’s the same here, my LFSs are great at that unless it’s LR and it’s a pain, makes me want to add small pieces of LR every so often to my rock scape when I know I can’t!

Micro brittle stars are near impossible to find in Canada for some reason. I have been looking for so long but nothing. About a month ago I picked up a couple coral frags from the LFS I frequent and was going through my normal dipping process when off popped two hitchhikers. I recoil in horror thinking bristleworms which are the only hitchers I have gotten so far but when I looked closer they were micro brittle stars. So thrilled!! I quickly scooped them out of the dip and into the tank they went. They are so cute!! :)

It’s the same over here, last time I saw micro brittles was on a leather from an LFS 4 hours away and that was 4 years ago now. Dang how I wish I could find some nearby, I may ask on my next trip to the LFS I get acros from if they have any.
