Hello,

I’m having issues trying to get my ink bird to not overheat my tank. Right now I have it set on the first temperature at 77 then I have the second temperature to 77.8, the alarm high is at 81 and the continuous is at one. However, recently, I’ve been getting alarm highs and now it’s reading 81.3.

Was wondering if anyone else has run to this issue with all of a sudden it’s not keeping a temperature? I have read about other people replacing the sensor however it looks like the wires are all one continuous unit.

Thanks for any help

Where do you have the heater and where is the probe? If they aren’t together in the tank or in the same chamber, that could be part of the issue.

they are both in the same chamber in the back of my biocube 32. It matches temps in all chambers including the main area.

I run mine in the back chamber of my AOI (25 IM Lagoon), but I put the probes in the main display. Runs great...

I can see the back chamber getting hot, but then that water gets pumped into the display and replaced with cooler water and so on.

I moved it, but not sure why it matters, or why it just stopped being reliable.

I would assume if the probe is in the same chamber with the heater it would read higher sooner, then turn off before the rest of the tank gets up to temp. However that is not happening and the entire tank is getting to 81

Temperature seems to be accurate between different probes and thermometers.

Are my settings off?

Another thought, I am using the Eheim heaters, are they an either ON or OFF device? (Without the inkbird) if I set to 80 vs 70, is the heat output the same with those 2 settings and just on longer for the higher temp? Or does a higher set temp on the device cause it to put out more heat?
