Hi all

I'm going to Hawaii in March. My first trip there.

We will have extra time on both Maui and Kauai and I'm looking for suggestions on where we should go while there. Primarily Interested in snorkeling and hiking etc. We will have a car.

Thanks for the tips!

Gotta try their fresh native fruits
I like the ones they sell on road side

I've been diving before and enjoyed it. Unfortunately my wife cannot dive, so I probably wont do any on this trip.
Perfect, my wife doesn't dive either. Does she drink adult beverages? Sly is a different "dive" experience.

Turtle town in Maui is very nice, you’ll see corals and Turtles from beach directly . The public aquarium there is good as well. I have seen lots of fishes straight from shore, tangs and triggers are only visible while snorkeling though

Is that where they have homes, look like turtles?

If you can swing it, the helicopter tour of Kauai is a must do.
Pricey, but worth it.
2 hours total, 1/2 hour flight?

Was able to drag Mom and Dad on one years ago. Dad was fine, former Air Force, Mom said it was beautiful and she is glad she did it!
And has never gone up again.

Mom and Dad never made it to the Grand Canyon, another place the helicopter tour is well worth it. They are done with extensive travelling at this point.

We lived on the Big Island (Island of Hawaii) for 5 years.
Never did get a chance to do the Maui bike trip but it always sounded awesome. Always heard great things about it 20 years ago.

On Maui the drive on the road to Hana was well worth it. Even if you are the driver.

All day adventure, 5-8 hours depending on how many times you stop for pictures. Bring swimsuits for the "any" 7 sacred pools and car snacks.
Several small restaurants, limited food 20 years ago.

On Kauai the drive up to the overlook to Waimea Canyon is cool. The canyon is a total change from the rest of that green beautiful Island. It's like being dropped in the Grand Canyon.
Total change up, absolutely beautiful all by itself, hard to believe it fits in that tiny Island. 2-3 hours total?

Any snorkeling catamaran cruise with adult beverages (if she is into that sort of thing, the adult beverages I mean) Surprisingly, a lot of people never get in the water. Just enjoyed the cruise and watched the fish and people from the boat.

Not sure of your timeframe (December to March) but the humpback whale watching tours are a must do. Amazing creatures! They breach (jump out of the water) on a regular basis. Still amazing the hundredth time you see it.
Afternoon. Several hours.

Hope you have a fantastic time!

Agree with @norfolkgarden on the Waimea Canyon. Take a jacket or a hoodie. The day we went there was a huge temp drop from sea level to the look out. If you take the road to Hana and have any problem with motion sickness, take some scopolamine patches with you. Worst nausea I've ever had in my life!;Greedy;Spitoutdummy

Thanks for all the tips and ideas!
