Hello! (Sorry wasn’t sure which forum to post this to)

My wife and I will be going on our honeymoon to Hawaii in a few weeks. We are staying about 5 days in Maui and 5 days in Kauai.

I wanted to reach out to see if anyone has any suggestions for snorkeling spots to see the best wildlife.

We would prefer not to go an “excursion”and would rather just go on our own, but if there is an excursion that is really worth the money we would consider it.

We would be happy to hear any other suggestions for beaches, hikes, restaurants, or anything else.

Thanks!!

Congrats! Hope it goes well for you. I would highly recommend heading to your local dive shop to get a good fitting mask and snorkel. It makes so much of a difference. Inflatable snorkel vests can keep you out there for endless hours.

Honeymoon snorkeling.
That phrase could mean so many things.

Best wishes and congratulations and blessings for a lifetime of happiness for you both.

I have no reefs or beaches to suggest so I will say nothing else to avoid swimming in the wrong seas with poetic imagery remaining safely anchored on a family friendly island here on Reef2Reef.

I love my highlighter rash guard. It keeps me from sunburn and let’s the jet skis avoid running me over.

I quite enjoyed Anini beach on Kauai!
— the trick is stopping at one of the Oceanside road turnouts before the main touristy beach, where the locals go!

Thanks I’ll check out those spots!

Maui has better snorkeling than Kauai IMO. Tons of spots so depends where you are staying.
Agree here.
There are several spots easy to access from the beach/hotel depending where you stay.
Kaanapali has several spots.
Or as some mentioned Molokini is nice but off the coast. You'll need to book a snorkeling trip.

Enjoy!

The best snorkeling spot on Kauai is Hideaways beach. It is up near the Princeville hotel. As the main road ends to the hotel on Ka Haku Rd, there is a small public parking lot on the right next to the tennis courts....park there. You'll see a small opening in the fence at the cliff's edge. This is the entrance to a long stair case and trail down to the best small and secluded beach with fantastic snorkeling. You often will be the only one there because of the trek down.....and of course back up...to/from the beach. It's even better at low tide when there's more beach.

We snorkeled at Poipu, Anini Beach and Tunnels beach (Tunnels was on a Nepali coast tour) on Kauai. Highly recommend the Nepali tour, worth every penny. We went on the one out of Hanalei in May. There’s also a tubing excursion in Lihue that was a blast

This sounds sick

If on Oahu, Hanama Bay is overcrowded and over-rated now. Shark's Cove on the North Shore is very nice.
