Hello everybody, My name is Carsten and I'm new to this community. :-)
I don't own a saltwater tank yet, but I'm starting to buy all the equipment step by step.
I want a 140 gal tank, + sump (dont know the size of the sump yet ) and have a few questions for you guys.

I really like the Vortech MP40 Quiet drive pumps, but how many of them will i need in a 140 gal tank?
I know it depends on rock placement etc but should I go for 2-3 or 4 pumps ?

Last if you have any suggestions on a good protein skimmer to this tank size, I'll be happy to hear it :-)

2 of those would do great. 1 on each side. they'll actually be overkill, but you can turn them down and adjust until you have the perfect flow. if you've got the money, get them. the gyre are also really nice pumps if you got the bank for them. welcome to the addiction. get ready to drain your life savings lol

as for the skimmer, are you willing to spend a good chunk of change on it too? if so reef octopus or tunze would probably be your best bets. always buy a skimmer rated for a tank larger than yours. like most things, manufacturers over rate their equipment.
