Hi all, new to R2R. I just ventured into the saltwater hobby, been 6 or 7 months as of now. It's currently a small 55gal FOWLR with a 180gal coming right after I'm done with all my major examinations. I also currently have a 55gal freshwater aquarium dedicated to my lone Channa Sp. Fire and Ice.
Just to share, I originally started out in the hobby in freshwater (which I believe many of us have too). I was intrigued by the many tanks I've seen at other people's places, lush dutch style aquariums with Discus or large predatory tanks with Asian Arowanas. At 5 years old I kept bettas I caught in small ponds, the root of this hobby. At 10 I kept a baby bichir and a baby snakehead in a 10gal before they grew too big and my mum passed them away to others. By 15 I'd kept all sorts of things fresh, from bettas to tetras, datnoids to catfish. Why I ventured into the marine hobby all of a sudden was because I had visited my first ever marine aquarium. The colors were just amazing, and rhe different varieties of fish and inverts, seeing how soothing it is for those "neon plants" swaying in the water current.
