Hello Reef2Reef community!

After 5 years of moving around the country for work, I've finally planted some roots here in Nashville. My beautiful wife is 100% on board with me setting up a new aquarium in our home. I have about 10 years of experience in this hobby, and I'm so excited to get back in. Reef aquariums have always been my peace, place of Zen, and relaxation.

I'm currently in the planning/setup phase. (Just ordered my tank yesterday!)

Ordered:
Tank: custom 44x36x25 170gal
Lighting: 36in 4x36w aquatic life T5/LED combo with two AI Fifty-two's
Skimmer: 6" Reef Octopus external recirculating
Water: 7 stage RO/DI
Pumps: Sicci 900 (tank) / 500 (skimmer)
Powerheads: (2) VorTech MP40QD

Planning:
Sump: dual sump system (quarantine with overflow to sump below)
Water changes: auto top off and automated water changes
Note: still trying to find reservoir drums/barrels/tanks at a decent price. 55gal min, 100gal ideal. 1 for RO/DI, 1 for saltwater.

Lasty, I'm building my aquarium into the wall/garage with connections to my homes water supply and plumbing.

Wish us luck! In due time I'll be looking for a Blond Naso and Firecracker Dendro's!

Welcome! I think you'll want to keep quarantine and main tank systems separate. Something to reconsider.

Welcome to R2R! I’ve heard that reefing can be a team sport but I’m still a skeptic!

I look forward to seeing pictures of your construction and build project!

Thanks reaclimating! Great point! I'm trying to increase my system volume as much as possible, so maybe it's not so much a quarantine tank as it is an acclimation/holding/frag tank. I've also toyed with the idea of making just one a huge sump. But since the aquarium the will sit about 4 feet above the garage floor on the back side, I was thinking about taking advantage of gravity. But it's all in planning still!
