Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Now would be a good time to decide if you want to use real live rock (<recommended) or dry rock, and if you go with dry rock you can get the rock cycling now in a container like a Brute trash can.

Good luck!

Welcome!

What kind of tank are you going to keep? Reef? Fish only?
Mixed reef with fish. Probably start with easy stuff. I’m fortunately a big fan of zoas.

To the other poster’s question re: rock, I’m thinking live rock. I had a good LFS 15 minutes from my house that has great variety.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!
August is still "far", but this is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with some of the basics of reef keeping if you haven't already. If you learn a little bit about the nitrogen cycle and the "ugly phase" you won't get overwhelmed or scared during the first few months when your tank suddenly starts growing weird things 😁

Enjoy your new hobby!

I will have to check on mainline coral gardens. When people talk about live rock on this forum they are talking about rock harvested from the ocean. I don’t think something fishy has that kind of live rock

Would that be different than what’s listed on their site here? https://www.toofishy.com/Live-Rock-and-Sand/

(I’m not sure what I’m looking at, so not rhetorical)
