Greetings and welcome to the reef! I do not recommend small tanks for novice aquarists. With nanos, achieving stability can be a challenge even for more seasoned vets in the hobby. The smallest starting tank should be no less than a 40B, IMO.

I 100% agree, but have to work with the space i have, which is the back of a desk. I actually found a 50gal tank near me that is thin for $75 but it's so heavy i'll never be able to move it. Also, it looks absolutely disgusting, so i'm concerned about what is living in it and how i get it clean and sanitary to start a cycle if i did decide to use it. I am tempted, but it couldn't go on my desk. Thought about it as a quarantine tank/frag tank, but it kind of defeats the purpose of getting a set up going if it's in my basement where i will only see it when i'm working on it. Also, i won't notice changes as frequently since i'll only see it once, maybe twice a day instead of 100 times.

Maybe i'll call on it. My wife will see a tank that big and cut my balls off. :(
