Is anyone using a Hello reef setup? I'm new to the salt water reef world. trying to start it off right, if anyone has used this tank setup can you recommend any change in the accessories they provide in the tank kit? like a nano skimmer. or dosing pumps, is this tank too small for that? I have had it cycling for about a month now with the bacteria they provided. It would have been nice for them to include some sort of testing for the cycling process. Any hints or tips for a first timer?

You can definitely add a leather coral and a few snails and hermits. Maybe wait a week to observe before adding a pair of clowns.

yeah i just invested in some Hanna checkers, it looks like my sand is starting to grow some algae. I'm not sure if this is good. i have followed the Hello reefs start up guide. I did not want to add anything unless i was sure the water chemistry was acceptable. i used seawater from the local fish tank store that they sell. so i did not try to mix the salt. it was easy to go buy it already mixed or however they do it.

Welcome to the club. Have questions? Ask. Still consider myself a newbie. There is a lot of information here and tons of people willing to help. Not every tank is the same. You kinda have to work through it. Good luck!

The nice thing is corals don’t care about cycling and softies don’t really care much about cal/alk/mag. If you use 35ppt saltwater with decent water you should be fine

May want carbon for softy toxins
