Help identifying growth

Can anyone help me with what this growth is? It's on my candy cane

Those look like sponges to me (probably pineapple sponges, but the lighting in the room I’m in is pretty bad, so I can’t tell for sure). Generally speaking, unless the sponge starts actively smothering your corals (growing actually over the coral heads, not just the stems), then they’re harmless filter feeders. If they are pineapple sponges, then they’ll likely go away on their own after a while, and they’re very common in newer tanks.
