Hello fellow reefers, I noticed a strange blob floating around my tank and was able to catch it. I have no idea on what it is, can you help me identify it?? Looks like a small jellyfish but tends to settle in the bottom of the vial with those little tentacles pointing up and I noticed that they can open and close.
Is this a larval stage of some coral or something else that’s not good?

Thank you for your help in advance!

Hydroids or a jellyfish of some kind would be my first thought, but I'm not familiar with any that look quite like this at the moment, and I can't rule out corals/anemones at this point (it would be a fairly large coral polyp, judging from the pics though).

So, probably a hydroid of some variety.

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH BULLIES IN YOUR TANK?

  • I place the offender in an acclimation box for a period of time (jail).
