Help IDing Algae/Grass-Stuff?

Hey gang,

I’ve been running a Fluval 13.5 since March. My first two corals from Biota came with these little grass-like things on them, and being a total noob, I thought nothing of them.

They grew to be quite long in one spot, and they’re starting to spread like little threads on my main piece of rock. They don’t really bother me, though I trimmed back the longest pieces and continue to do so when I do water changes.

I’m just curious - what are they? Should I take a more aggressive attitude towards them?

FYI, the bluer photo is older, before I trimmed the longest pieces.

either way it seems like you could just manually remove it.

Looks like Hair or Byropis and you also have some bubble algae. If its a soft algae its hair and if its a stiffer like brissle like algae then its Byropis. I would remove as much as you can by hand and stay on top of it. Also have you checked your parameters lately to make sure things are in check?

Those green bubbles are bubble algae. They are not good. Do not let them pop in your tank or they (might) grow everywhere. If you can, take the rock out and *gently* peel them off the rock- preferably in one piece without popping. Then put some gel glue over top of it to prevent re-growth. Alternately, you can try emerald crabs, they eat it sometimes.

The other stuff doesn't look like green hair algae- I'm practically an expert on what GHA looks like since I have been battling it in my tank for like 2 months. ;Dead Yours looks like the bryopsis. I don't know much about that- but if it is only on a frag plug for now I would seriously consider removing *that* from the tank if you can, and gently cut/pop the coral off the frag and either re-frag it or attach it directly to your rock.
