HELP! im scared!

Hi All,

so my tank has been up and running for months now and I've started adding corals :)

we just had some rain for once here in Southern California and once it stopped we had termites coming through our window. we have a guy that came out to check it out and he took some back with him, there are a couple options before tenting (hopefully one of these will work) however, if my house has to be tented my tank is doomed correct? if breaking the tank down isnt an option before hand, is there anything i can do??

Cover your tank and keep the water flowing. After they're finish I'd say do a 50% water change. I'm new to this by the way.

If they're going to tent your house, I don't see any way you can keep the tank in the house during the process. They usually tent for 72 hours, right? That's too long to keep the tank tightly covered.

Yikes. Do you run a skimmer? Is it possible to run an airline way out in the backyard beyond the tent and attach it to your skimmer intake? This will force clean air into your water. Then you can really wrap your tank up tight without starving it of oxygen. I'd assume running a large amount of carbon might help as well.

Hopefully someone has dealt with the is and can help you out.

Break down the tank and move it and the contents to another location if possible. Then wait to move back until the house has time to detox. Just my opinion.

Just get yourself some 4" flexible duct for input and output from outside the tent. Use cling wrap or tape a tarp on the tank area. And a 20$ 165cfm 4" duct fan. Push air into the tank from outside and it'll go back out the other.
Unless it's freezing in your area, it'll be alright.

if you have good relations with your LFS then ask if they can house your livestock for a week. After the tent do a 100% wc and run carbon for 2 days, then reintroduce your livestock.

+1^^ that seems to be a very good suggestion - I wouldn't chance it by keeping it running

unless the tank is built into the house, it can be taken down?
I am having somewhat of the same problem, wife is ordering new tile for the floor in the room where the tank sits.....there is no other option, take it apart and move to another location while tile is set and then move again to put it back.....125 gal ...not an easy move.

what size is your tank?

I would break down the tank and move it out of the house.
Maybe your local fish store can hold your corals ... or post on local reef club
that could help host.
