Hi i have this aquacultured frag for 2.5 months and has been opening up nicely, but it has completely closed up for the last two days. I can think of a few factors that may cause it but i have tried rectify them but nothing helped.

1. It has been harassed by one of the clownfish the whole time and doesnt seem to be bothered when fish touches its tentacles but would retract when fish is rubbing hard and will come back when fish left. I have placed a fish net near where it sits the day it fully closed and that has kept the fish away but tentacles remained closed.

2. 3 days before it closed up, I added a new goni frag next to it and they would touch when fully extended. Although theres another goni frag that the new frag is touching and they both seem fine, I have moved them apart yesterday and condition didnt change.

3. Also 3 days before it closed up, a new hammer is added not super far from it sits. In the morning I noticed it fully retracted, I can see the hammer sending out a few sweepers but due to the flow direction, I dont think the sweeper can ever touches it and after the move they are now far apart.

The second day new goni is added: middle is the new frag and right one is the one closed up. Green hammer is the one sending out sweepers. Theres another hammer to the right and it has been attacked by BTA and is super weak now so i dont think that would fire sweepers.

Today and 24 hours after moving them around yesterday:

Other than the mentioned, the params are stable

salinity 1.025
Alk 9.3
Ca 440
Mg 1275
No3 10-15
PO4 0.1-0.15

I dose TM element A & K daily so trace elements shouldn't be a problem. I have a ICP test on its way to the lab.

Other goni is doing fine as well as the new addition. The alveopora I had problem with did not recover its color but still opening up everyday. SPSs are also showing growth.

I dont know what else would be bothering it, or is it just gonna be a wait game after changes?

I’ve had this happen before and as long as nothing is bothering it , I’ve had them close for a couple of weeks and then pop out like nothing ever happened . Just keep watching it and make sure it doesn’t lose color .

I dont think the two are clashing. Goni can challenge even the most experienced aquarist. Inadequate light will cause them to change color/fade and even shrink. If there is a change in lighting you will have a starting point for determining issues. Too much flow will kill some of its cells and can start a reaction with other gonis in their tank. Moderate to medium flow will keep their tentacles swaying to keep debris off of them and deliver food in which they regularly. Adding aminos to the tank is a plus for their health.
Some good foods are chopped krill, mysis shrimp, phyto and zooplankton. Im not a fan of powdered plankton foods as they can raise phosphates quickly but they work well with goni and alveopora.
Assure no3 and po4 Not elevated. Also having some Manganese in the water helps them to reduce stress in general and its important to have Mag at 1300-1350 to help stabilize CA and ALK level consumption

hah glad you brought up the lighting. I indeed got a new light. My ai prime is melting so i got a Radion X15. I started with a relatively close par and doing a acclimation from 70% intensity to 90% and 10 days into 30 day acclimation period. I'll go check the par again when the light is fully on.

I would consider starting with acclimation mode for 48 hrs then increase settings at 3-5% daily until you get close to desired intensity

Hey yes it started to open up after about a week, but the tentacle tips arent fully extended and some tentacle stems are in a weird curly state while others are looking stretchy tho i have moved it to higher light
