I have had a 600ltr tank running for about three weeks my rock are green in colour I don't think it's hair algue but I am unsure.. There are patches red slime type algue in places was introduced with this coral that's decided to shed yet again.. I have been swapping my lights from day to night every day is that wrong am I supposed to be leaving the blue lights on only... Does this look normal to you for a new tank

It's new tank phases. Diatoms, green algae and cyano are normal.

It appears you have your rocks on or very near the glass. Just make sure you can get a glass cleaner on all glass surfaces.

So by turning light on day to night is the correct thing to do? And thank you for your replys
Yes, cycling the tank with the lights on will lead to these. Normal!

Youre going to need the light so it can photosynthesize, blues should work though. I think you jumped the gun on putting livestock in. Do you know that the tank has fully cycled?

My tank went thro a phase of algue bloom went like crazy from grown to green to now I have got what look like cocopods running over my rocks skimmer working well and as can tell tank has settled but I'm freighted of killing off what I got.. My feather duster is happy tho so hope that's a good sign

Yeah, its fine. At least you chose a hardy coral to start with first. Do you have testing kits to verify the cycle is over and your parameters for your coral? (Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia) (Calcium, Alkalinity, Magnesium and Phosphate)

The first three will make sure that your cycle is done, then Nitrate and the 4 on the right will help with corals. I used Salifert when I started, theyre fairly cheap and reliable. The only Salifert one I'd avoid is the Phosphate one.
