Help - Sebae Anemone disappeared behind rocks

Hey everyone, i bought my sebae about 3 weeks ago and he moves a lot but about 4 days ago went behind a major rock formation after my diamond goby kept trying to bury him and hasn’t come out for food or light. Should i get him out? I would essentially have to dismantle most of my tank to get him out. I cant even see him anymore. Worried he will die and take the rest of the tank with him.

I let my anemones settle wherever they want so long as there isn’t any danger to something or from powerheads et
just my sample but I’d let it be

Ok thanks, was hoping he would come out on his own eventually. Where he is at has no light and probably no food getting to him. Was scared he is in a place he cant foot his way out of.

other than the trouble or base tear, Cant hurt to move him a time or two, I wouldn’t make it a practice

How old is your tank, What are your parameters? If it’s moving a lot either it can’t find its spot to dock on the sand bed or the swings in water parameters is causing it to be stressed.

He was staionary until the diamond goby started throwing sand on him and wouldn't stop. Parameters are perfect and the tank is mature. Early on he didn't like the flow from the gyre so i turned it down and he opened up and was great for weeks until the above incident. He was fully attached to the bottom glass.

What kind of anemone? Sebae is a generic name for H. crispa and H. Malu and both are different.
One likes the sand and the other sand/rock interface.

My guess since these are almost always bleached when they come in it might be hiding from the light.
So many people buy them when they are bleached because they think they look nice not knowing they are actually bleached. These are not easy anemones especially early on but once settled in are not to hard to keep either.

If they are bleached they need to be fed and will take time to acclimate to the light.

Leave it alone. They will go to a place they like. Moving them only stresses them. They are not like coral where you place them. One option to get it to move could be to change the flow around in the tank. Doing so could trigger a move.

Shred5 - good question, it was only labeled as “Sebae” at my LFS, he is green with whitish tentacles with purple tips and an orange foot.

Sudz - good point going to try that now. I love that I work from home and my tank is in my office! Makes it hard to work most days though HAH!

Ok white means bleached most likely. Both are usually kind of tan or cream colored and sometimes some purplish.

Orange foot makes me think LTA though not a sebae at all. I can not ever remember seeing a sebae with orange foot. That does not mean one does not exist I think there have been some crispas with them though.

Not a LTA.. That said really the only way to tell crispa or Malu is from the bottom. Both can have similar looking tentacles. It might be a crispa just by the looks of it but impossible to really tell from that picture. Malu usually has short blunt tentacles and Crispa usually longer but when bleached crispa can have short blunt tentacles. Crispa have a very leathery appearance underneath. Also hard to tell if it is bleached from the picture, allot of blue.

Based on that, then i would fall towards the malu. It never had long tentacles.
Gotta love LFS with vanilla names of saltwater fish and verts!

they also sold my wife “ocellararius” clowmns but they are actually phantom clowns. $19 each! I lost it when i saw them! They are gorgeous!

So I am now at 2 months and he never came back out. Every once in awhile i could see him sunbathing thru the ricks but that was a month ago. Getting nervous he is going to die and wipe out my tank.
