Why can't I keep 24k gold torches? I generally have pretty good luck with most corals in my tank. SPS do great, my indo torches thrive, but this is the second time I've ever purchased a 24k gold torch and within days it shrivels and recedes. Not seeing brown jelly, just closed up. First day I put it next to my jester torch, but the flow was pretty strong there, so I moved it over to a frag rack with lower flow to acclimate. Parameters in screenshot below. The torch was dipped in CoralRX and inspected for pests before it was added to the tank. Any advice?? Can I still save this?

Here is a photo of the same torch 5 days ago when it was first added to the tank:

Yeah, the flesh bands receded from about 1/2" to nothing within a few days of adding it to the tank. Today the skeleton is fully exposed around the edges.
That’s rough.. maybe your dip is causing the damage.. my dragon soul didn’t like a dip when I transferred tanks and did the same thing. I’ve never dipped my 24k or any other torch after that! Never had a problem either.. I buy from trusted locals out of their displays and visually Inspect closely and add to my tank on torches.

My holy grail in top left is 200 par, it was introduced to this spot as a single head, about 1.5” tall. And has sat here and grown to a 5 head monster

My 24k on a neon stand in sandbed, center tank, is around 150 par.

Why did you move yours from the rock to the frag rack? Your issue seems related to flow or lighting

As I mentioned in my original post, I moved it because the flow was quite strong on the rock and it was whipping the tentacles around too much.

My apologies. I did read that and forgot

My flow is strong but random. It gets whipped around but not too long in any particular direction. It’s right in front of a mp10

Had the same issue with mine, basically just shrivelled up after putting into tank over a month, never really extended out.
I tried moving to lower par, less flow, but nothing seemed to make a difference.

My only guess is that it didnt like the coral dip (red sea dipx)
