Hey everyone im new to the LPS section here because im mostly into acros but I have had my eye on chalices for a long time now and I finally got some yesterday from a fellow reefer. I have seen mixed responses in regards to growth some say they grow like weeds for them others say they are the slowest. What is fast growth in regards to say, eyes per month? And how can I get the best growth? Also are they ok in higher flow and should I keep them in high or low light? Feedings? Here are the peices I got last night:
JF HotShot
JF My Miami
CB Bahama Mama
WWC Jellybean
CB Rainbow crush

Thanks in advance!

Following along. Have been wanting to add some chalice as well. Sounds like a nice collection.

Believe they are lower light lower flow but hey what do I know lol

I don't have a definitive answer for you as my tank is still young. I picked up three chalices in early June. Had them now for 3 months and two have fully encrusted and are hanging over the frag plug. One is encrusting the plug but not entirely. I can't say they've grown many more eyes though. My Raja Rampage has grown the most but has only gone from three eyes to four. It has larger eyes than my other that has maybe 15 eyes on the plug and might have grown two more.

I have 4-bulb T5. I'd say mine are in medium light and low to medium flow. It's hard to judge because everyone's tank is different.

Yo

IME, chalice corals did best in lower lighting and moderate indirect flow. They loved to be fed and would show a response every time oyster feast and reef roids would hit the water. Pretty sensitive to chemistry swings so stability is important. Different species have different growth rates. Miami hurricane, Easter egg, goldmiester grew quickly for us.
