I am planning a Fiji cube 48 gallon system with the intention of growing out frags for months at a time.

What tips do you guys have for starting a system like this?

How does one manage algae and nutrients in a set up like this?

What equipment is a must (aside from lights, heat and flow)?

What types of corals?
Are you adding fish?
For a grow out stoney coral system you should probably consider a doser and ATO.

Doser and ATO are on the list. Primarily stony corals, Montis and Anacropora to start.

For fish. I was thinking a 6 line wrasse, an aptasia eating filefish and a small foxface (which would be rehomed once too big).

The main concern for me is a tank with no rock-work. Do you just fill the sump with cured rock? I’ve never had a bare bottom so I fear an inevitable algae takeover. Especially in a high par grow-out.
