Help with CSB anemone

I think that we should not strip nutrients from the water and then hoping to dose bottled amino acids (imo, marketing magic “elixirs”) to compensate. All my tanks run with some levels of nitrates & phosphates. With measurable nutrients from fish poop & pee, the inhabitants should be happier. Back when I started the hobby in the 90s, the goal was to read 0/0 for N/P but we’ve learned that starving our corals and inverts may not be a good idea.

I’ll be curious if your anemones would have recovered on their own with stable water parameters (salinity, temp, Alk/Ca/Mg), non-zero nutrient levels (0 < N < 50, 0 < P < 0.5), lighting, and flow.

To be direct: I don’t think that Acropower (or other amino acid bottles) is the magic potion to recover a bleached anemone.
From my experience, I can’t emphasize enough how important the salinity of the water is and to ensure your ATO is functioning properly with a good source of RO water.

I top off myself once a day , salinity stays pretty consistent 1.025 - 1.026. I get my RO from mothers market lol

I would invest in an ATO as soon as you can. You can find some good ones on Amazon for less than $50 dollars. Stable salinity is going to be the foundation to keeping a successful reef system. And this will be 1 less task on you to perform.

Last thing I want to do is make water spill on the floor. I’ve read so many “oopsies” from ATOs that I’ve stared clear , I also see it as one more thing that can go wrong. But maybe I’ll come around

I run 4 ATOs (one for each tank) and each one of them is filled by 2 separate RODI units, with a float valve & manual shut-off. For small tanks, fine - you can do it; but my 450gal is evaporating 5 gallons / day, it's not fun trying to do that! lol

Hey - there are no "oopsies" here -- I just fill up the ATOs with a manual switch. If I ever forget, the float valve will save me and stop the flow. ;)

Agreed I have had 40G, 90G, and now a 20G. I think I am able to manage topping off myself. I wouldn’t with a 450 lol. It’s more about me , I know eventually something will happen negatively with the ATO and make me wonder why I ever bought it. I also only have one tank so I can dedicate more time to it and can afford more manual maintenance
