Can anyone help me determine what’s going on with this koi scopas please.

It was in QT for 11 days when symptoms appeared. I first thought it was velvet as I noticed the “fine powdered sugar” appearance on the fish yesterday. Today you can see what looks like more of a bacterial issue?

The fish was treated using copper power at 2.5PPM, metro, and Prazi.

Otherwise it’s eating and does not appear to be too bothered.

Appreciate the help.

Is it safe to assume that if it were also a case of velvet, the rest of the tangs in Qt would also have gotten it and shown symptoms within the 11 days they have been together?

Also, any way to know if it’s likely contagious? Just wondering how long I should wait once the QT is done on the other fish before it’s safe to move them into their tanks.

Velvet doesn’t cause skin changes until the very end of the infection, and then the skin changes are spread evenly across the fish, not in a localized area like this.
The primary symptom of true velvet is rapid breathing and not eating. This fish is breathing fast, but I imagine that’s a function of being in the little tank.

I agree, this looks more like an injury (is it only on the fish’s right side?)

The white areas on BOTH sides makes it less likely that it is an injury - unless you’ve seen the fish doing a lot of scratching.

I wonder if I need a 3rd round of prazi?

Well, neither the copper power or the prazi treatment was long enough. Copper Power needs to be run up to 30 days, but never less than 21 days, and it usually takes three rounds of prazi to knock out egg laying flukes.

Ok, thank you. The first are still in QT with planned treatment longer than the 11 days mentioned. I was running 2 rounds of General cure, along with metro per this schedule I found on a forum.

Can you share when you suggest the 3rd round of GC should be dosed?

Day 1 - Dose General Cure
Day 3 - Dose metro
Day 5 - Dose metro
Day 7 - Dose General Cure
Day 9 - Dose metro

No - stop the metro. General Cure has metro in it and you risk overdosing it if you do both. Besides, metro is of very limited use. It really only controls gut flagellates and *maybe* gill amoeba.
