Hello! I am moving to Summit County tomorrow, it’s a 600 mile drive for me and I have a rough mental plan of what I need to do. I have moved a smaller WB20 with great luck a few times, but only 2 hours max. I have a 9.5 hour drive and don’t have a lease signed out there, but numerous prospects and will be staying in an airbnb for a few days. My current plan is to get a storage container for rock, water, and coral. Then have my 4 fish in a 5 gallon bucket. I have new sand purchased as well.

I have also been thinking of getting a ton of bags and just bagging my coral for extra protection, but this seems unessesary. If I was at an airbnb and had heat and a wave maker plugged in, the coral would be fine for a few days without light right? I’m not too worried about my fish, I could easily put them In the same container after the car ride. Let me know any other tips and tricks y’all have!! Pic for reference of size, 40 gal IM.

I've done this twice with my last 55g - used 5g buckets for rock and fish for the ride, with battery powered bubblers (Pawfly 40 GPH, $10/ea). Loose coral went into Tupperware. On arrival, used 2 30-gallon totes from Home Depot ($13/ea) for all rock, corals and fish, each with a heater and powerhead, where everything lived for about a week each time while we got settled, cleaned tank and equipment (I use Citric Acid), then moved all from totes to their new homes with ~50% fresh SW and 100% fresh sand.

Overall, worked really well. Some corals might be a little agitated and you may see a mini cycle after you are up and running again but dont sweat it :)

Good luck!
